Role: Associate Designer (Full-Time Conversion)

  • Transitioned from Front-End (FE) team to Gameplay (GP) team to improve overall game quality
    • Won Internal Award Ceremony for “The One”
  • Things I’ve done on Gameplay for 18
    • Learned ANT (having no prior knowledge of the toolset)
    • Implemented and tuned various animations within Gameplay to raise quality bar
      • Dunks, Dunk-Ons, Layups, Block-Ons, and Hard Fouls.
  • Created and implemented system and controls for Shot Stick feature
    • Input system that allowed more “granular” selection of what asset to play
  • Worked with engineers to better develop tools to debug, collect information, and increase productivity in implementing animations
  • Worked with engineers through requests to help evolve our defender system and animation gathers for n-man situations

  • Loot Crate System
    • Initial design and then provided feedback once I switched to GP on iteration
    • With an emphasis on “fair-play” to avoid “gambling” fatigue
  • Player Progression
    • Collaborated with another designer on design and final implementation
  • Traits
    • Gameplay enhancements that trigger based on certain conditions being met that the User has performed
    • Designed, tuned, and implemented all traits.
  • Signature Abilities
    • Signature abilities are more powerful versions of traits, with more complexity, and exclusivity based on what playstyle they have chosen.
      • Designed, tuned, and implemented all signature abilities.
  • Create Player Customization
    • Implementing all gear, hair, facial hair, head models, and animations that would end up available for NBA Live 18.
  • The Rise
    • Helped set up rosters, provided feedback, and helped tune difficulty.
  • Franchise
    • Initially wrote all initial designs and documentation for Franchise, prior to moving to GP team.
  • Rising Star
    • Initially wrote all initial designs and documentation for Rising Star, prior to moving to GP team.
